The UK is home to over fifty thousand churches, each of them special and unique in their own ways. However, like our list of the most impressive churches around the world, you simply can’t ignore the fact that some of them are just spectacular and truly out of the ordinary when it comes to their design. Chapel of St Albert the Great
This Edinburgh chapel is a perfect combination of ultra-modern design features and simple traditional elements. The new version was built as a replacement for the old chapel in 2012 and has proven hugely popular ever since.
Lumen United Reformed Church, Tavistock Place
One of the most modern and peaceful churches in London, this design channels natural light effectively and makes great use of a very simple but solid internal structure. Its main feature is an enormous sloped pillar resembling a beam of light coming down from the roof.
Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Steelstown
This unconventional design is just as impressive now as it was many decades ago, with striking slanted walls forming the entire structure. Since its construction in the 1970s, it has become one of Derry’s most recognisable modern churches.…
